Eight Trekkers in Tibet: From Lhasa to Mount Kailash and the three river sources
Last Name: Plessis-Fraissard
First and Other Names: Maryvonne
Summary:
Photographic travelogue of the trek to Mt. Kailash and river sources. The group of 8 hikers was composed of 6 World Bank retirees, a friend, and Rabindra Thapa, a Kailash veteran whose firm Sacred Summits (P) Lrd. made the tour possible.
In addition to the Kailash kora, we reached the sources of three rivers -- Indus (Tsenge Khabab, the lion's mouth), Sutlej (Langchen Khabab, elephant's mouth), and Karnali (Mapcha Khabab, the peacock's mouth)). Early snowfall blocked the pass we needed to cross to reach the source of the Brahmaputra (Tamchok Khabab, the horse's mouth), which remains an unfinished agenda to be attempted during a future visit to Mt. Kailash.
