An unusual addition to the WWI literature: The book was written by Louis Z. Daris, a talented (but barely out of high school) enlisted soldier whose service spanned the entire length of the American involvement in the First World War, from training in makeshift camps the US and in France, combat duty in France and participation in the US occupation forces in Germany.
