Synopsis: Ede and Jamal co-directed the report State and Trends in Adaptation 2021, a comprehensive review published by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) of how adaptation to climate change can make Africa safer, greener, and more prosperous in a warming world. The report combines in-depth analyses, case studies, and viewpoints with contributions from leading investment and research organizations working in Africa. In 17 chapters, the report covers a broad range of topics, from macroeconomics and trade to gender and conflict. It reviews climate impacts and adaptation solutions in a variety of economic sectors. The report was launched in October 2021, before COP26, in an event with the participation of the President of Kenya, and the heads of the IMF, WTO, UNFCC, and the African Development Bank, among others. The report provides the analytical underpinning for the African Adaptation Acceleration Program, a $25 billion program for adaptation under implementation by the AfDB and the GCA.
