You are invited to a presentation on Ports and Trade Logistics by our colleague Michel Audigé. This will be our first presentation by a ports expert after many presentations on roads and urban transport. The presentation will focus specifically on the port of Rijeka in Croatia where the Bank was involved for almost 20 years. The presentation will include – inter alia – engineering issues, in-depth institutional port reform, voluntary redundancy scheme, port-city interface redevelopment and two PPP transactions.
The Speaker: Michel Audigé retired from the World Bank on January 1, 2012 and since has worked as an independent consultant specialized in the ports and logistics sectors.
In his last assignment within the Bank, Michel was the Transport Sector Manager for the South Asia Region at the World Bank. Since he joined the Bank in August 1991, Michel has been leading or contributing to various projects in the transport sector with a special focus on ports and trade logistics in sub-Saharan Africa until 2002 and then on all other transport modes (roads, railways and urban transport) in Europe/Central Asia and South Asia.
His experience in the transport sector includes advising Government on transport policy (including trade and transport facilitation and logistics), carrying out economic sector works and implementing investment projects (Roads, Ports, Airports, Rail, Inland Waterways and Urban Transport and Development) ranging in size from US$20 million (Trade Gateway project in the Gambia) to US$1.2 billion (Padma bridge in Bangladesh).
