A joint hybrid presentation by the 1818 Society’s Agriculture, Food & Rural Development and Transport Thematic Groups
Webex | MC 4 – 300
A large portion of the economies of lower-income developing countries pertains to the contribution the agricultural sector makes to the countries’ economic growth and the creation of jobs as well as to ensure food security. The functioning of logistics chains—and cold chains for perishable goods—represents the key element in making that contribution effective. With climate change, those chains need to be aligned with climate goals while ensuring their efficiency—and reduce the transport costs from farm to markets. What are the strategies and elements that need to be considered and implemented to achieve those objectives?
