- New Phone App for CIGNA International
CIGNA International will launch a new phone App on February 9, 2026, and the old app will be discontinued in early March. This will have no impact on the use of the CIGNA International website, nor will it affect members under CIGNA Dental. - Launch of the 1818 Book Network
Building on the success of the Book Repository, which now has over 530 books, we are excited to announce the launch of the 1818 Book Network. The decision to form the Book Network was taken at the inaugural meeting of book lovers on December 18, 2025, where a panel of authors discussed their experiences on the joys and woes of book writing and publishing. A valuable exchange of ideas among participants can be found here.
This newly formed community of book lovers will bring together writers, readers, reviewers and aspiring authors to connect, share insights and lessons on writing, publishing, and sharing great reads together. - 2025 Board of Directors Election Results
1818 Society’s 47th Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, November 13, 2025. At the meeting, the results of the 2025 Board of Directors Election were proclaimed. Read more.
- 1818 Society Announces the first two recipients of the Sisu Award for Perseverance and Resilience
The Board of Directors has established a special award, to be called the Sisu Award for Perseverance and Resilience, to recognize unique achievements by members of the Society demonstrating extreme perseverance and resilience. The first two recipients of the Sisu Award — Christopher R. Bennett and Diana Corbin –were announced at the 47th Annual Business Meeting on November 13, 2025: (1) Christopher R. Bennett, for circumnavigating the world by bicycle at 66+ years (see Chris’ blogpost); (2) Diana Corbin, for completing the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming — (i) Catalina Channel, (ii) circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, and (iii) English Channel (see Diana’s blogpost). Over the next few months you will see incremental changes as we update our website to make information easier to find on the Society’s website. As a start, we have reorganized the content of the About Us and Health Insurance web pages. Check them out.
In a later phase we plan to revamp the website design in order to give readers an enhanced user experience. Stay tuned.

- 2025 Election: Search Committee finalizes Candidates for the Board of Directors
The Search Committee for the 2025 Election has completed its search and deliberations and finalized its report. Four (4) candidates have been nominated for the three (3) Director vacancies. The four candidates are:
• Merli Baroudi
• Vinh Nguyen
• Van Pulley
• Sanjivi Rajasingham
Voting will take place from Thursday, September 24 to Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Results will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting on November 13, 2025. To see the full announcement, click here.

If you have not provided us your emergency contact, you can either update it on your Member Profile online or send an email to 1818society@wbgalumni.org with this data. For those of you who have already provided your emergency contact information, review to make sure that it is up-to-date. To update your profile, log in to the Society’s website, click on Member Profile and enter your emergency contact information. Click on Update Profile at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
